The collaboration during the Web Conference (Sunday, March 6, 2011) was an exchanging of information, learning, and enlightenment. Through out the conference, the questions were coming in too fast, but at the same time, students were answering other student’s questions. It was a bit chaotic at first, cameras were moving, the sound was going in and out and there were moments of silence. There must have been at least 100 people participating. Sometimes the same question was asked more than once by different participants. One question was about TK20.
TK20 is the official electronic portfolio software of Lamar. Epic e-Portfolio is being phased out; therefore, students that are seeking any degree or certification are asked to purchase theTK20 software. The purchase is considered a professional expense that is necessary for the educator program. TK20 is a program to keep curriculum data and other items from our current portfolio. It is a seven-year program and during this time, we can access this information for future reference. Dr. Abernathy and Lamar University are encouraging all students to purchase the software.
Dr. Abernathy was answering questions about the assignment and articles for the week.
There were some questions about the part of the assignment that dealt with creating a Wiki. Those students in the Tech Leadership degree had to create one and did not apply to all others. I could feel a sense of frustration during the web conference, but Dr. Abernathy did an awesome job in trying to answer everybody’s questions. She also reiterated to all to make sure we read the Overview for each week. Dr. Abernathy assured everyone participating in the web conference that all professors at Lamar are there to help us. She gave out her phone number so we could reach her incase we needed help uploading our power points or had questions. Over all, I enjoyed the web conference and learned from it.
